so the day i decide to swap a ton of music with jeff, i install updates to firefox and itunes, upon which both programs promptly decide crashing is in order. i finally got them both to stop for a few days. then i stopped caring. then i turned off my computer. once i started caring again and turned on my computer again, firefox only crashed a little. but itunes is like the anti-weeble. any weeble medication for my compy out there? anyone?

i'm supposed to play trivia tonight! i want to play trivia tonight! but i also want to go to mid-ohio to hang out with a bunch of motorcycle racers. i can do both, but i have to drive myself if i'm gonna do that. it's only a two-hour drive. the issue is just getting there after midnight. i'm not even sure i'm going to stay the entire time anyway - probably just until thursday at lunch - that's if i drive myself, of course. i'd like to get back in time for a friend's going-away at therapy cafe, so driving myself is looking better and better all the time.

looking forward to fall, trying to figure out what i actually have time for. compared with my march post, this is what i anticipate: four classes, editing and laying out a literary criticism magazine, bowling an occasional sub game on a thursday night, throwing together playlists for my weekly radio show (cutting down to one hour from two for the fall), *possibly* broadcasting play-by-play for college or maybe even high school football games (but not sure), running a couple nights of week to get in shape for when my running buddy gets back into town, going to rainbow alliance meetings since i didn't get to last year, occasionally going to quaker meeting on sundays, maybe driving to cleveland once or twice to see my family, checking in with my counselor once in a while (why would i need that again?), and being a wife, a kitty mom, and a person who would just every so often like to veg on the couch and watch mythbusters.

so i was hoping this summer would be relaxing. no such luck. it has, however, been massively entertaining. i've roamed all over the countryside of southwest ohio with a knot of friends. i've gone to the smoky mountains for our wedding anniversary (8 years) and seen old friends and old loves. i've gone to a few comedy performances and done my own stand-up once. i've flown to denver on a whim and bummed around the west with my dad for a week and a half, again seeing dear friends and much family. i've had my bff fly in for a week of no drama, complete with jungle jim's, a birthday bonfire with a kegerator, and the creation museum.

and now i'm taking two easy classes and packing to go to john's wedding in the town where my dad has lived most of my life (ergo i am staying with dad). still on the docket are baseball games, dinner with michael, trivia night at caddy's with jeff and wes at some point, trivia night at the vfw with erin and the guys from the office at some point as well, participating in an hourlong study for the promise of a $25 barnes and noble gift card, and vanilla ice in the brick quarters. no, that last part shouldn't make any sense, so don't worry if it doesn't. i reeeeeeally hope to get pictures.

speaking of pictures, that's me right now in this picture. i am experimenting with the rockabilly look today. i bought lipstick for the occasion.

hi, sorry for the long time without posting! school is out for the summer. i'm taking B-term classes, but those don't start until the end of july. so in the meantime, i plan to read a lot. my friend nine pointed me in the direction of goodreads, and i made a profile. i'm going to try linking a widgety thing over here to show what i'm currently perusing. hope this works!

sweet lemonade, i'm done with this quarter!

i swear, those last few weeks like to have done me in. depression and i were playing tug-of-war and there were a couple of times my ass sat in the sand. i have been trying to do way, way too much, i'm sure, but i have such a hard time saying no when something looks fun.

so i've been slogging my way through four classes, a full-time job squeezed into half the time, editing a literary criticism magazine, bowling on my weekly league, putting together playlists for my weekly radio show, broadcasting play-by-play for college basketball and hockey games, running a couple nights of week with my running buddy, keeping track of the clubs i'm in and can't attend because of scheduling conflicts, going to quaker meeting on sundays, driving to cleveland to see my family, flying to georgia for mike's graduation, and oh yeah running the house and taking care of myself and three cats while i was alone for five months. *and* going to counseling (gee, can't imagine why i'd need that!). i loved all of it, and i would hate to let any of it go. but something apparently had to give.

what gave was my job. trying to cram everything i had to do there into twenty hours a week wasn't working. i wasn't willing to wait longer to graduate, and i would have to if i put in the hours at my job that i needed to put in to do it right. in the end, school won out. i'm fortunate to have the opportunity to go to school right now without having to worry about feeding myself - i will thank mike every day for that - and it's worth giving up the job i've loved for three years. today was my going-away party and tomorrow is my last day. next monday will be the first day in years that i wake up with no job to go to and absolutely nothing to do but enjoy the day. i'm not sure what to do with myself.

procrastinating and it feels so good. not really. actually i would like nothing more than to go to sleep. but since i am terribly afraid that my place of work will be idiotic and not call off for snow tomorrow, and since i am afraid that my school will follow work's example, i must instead put together a prospectus tonight. i have no thesis statement. i have only the vaguest idea of what i'm going to write. it's been coalescing slowly. i didn't wait until the last minute on this; the due date actually got moved. sigh.

did anyone see blagojevich's interview with rachel maddow tonight?? i swear i have never seen anything the size of that man's ego. it is matched only by his delusions. and maybe his hair. also i think he incriminated himself! thanks, dude. you are an embarrassment to the entire party. i confess a certain fascinated schadenfreude, though. i keep thinking he can't possibly get any crazier and he just DOES.

well, i'm not really sure what to write here. i have a myspace blog i almost never update. i have a livejournal i really rarely update. why should this blog be different? what can i use it for that's different? what do i say about my life that people want to hear? so many of you have something specific to post about, a theme, if you will (your family, your music, your fitness goals, etc). i don't have that. so i can consider what my days look like right now. or i can think about what really gets my engine going.

i am passionate about my radio show right now. i'm a new college dj. it's something i've wanted to do ever since i was sixteen and listened to stevie's show on WAWL. there's a romance to sharing the music you love with a sea of unseen, unknown listeners. there's a part of me that wants to be john corbett's character on northern exposure more than anything.

and so far, being a dj has been completely awesome. people actually listen to me - well, just friends and family so far, but who knows? i'm pretty decent at picking out music and really good with transitions between songs. i spend an inordinate amount of time planning my weekly playlist. i'm not great at patter yet, but it's coming along. i don't particularly like how my voice sounds on the air but i'm generally critical of how my voice sounds outside my head.

speaking of outside my head, i've been living in my head a lot lately. i mean, i've always had that tendency, but living by myself exacerbates it. only a few more weeks until i have a partner living with me again. as happy as that makes me, i won't lie - i'm going to miss the quiet. i love being by myself to think. but i do have to be pulled out of myself sometimes; i get peculiarly intense.
